Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

**Summary:** Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2021/1849, issued on October 21, 2021, addresses inaccuracies in the German, Maltese, and Spanish language versions of Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/464. Regulation 2020/464 lays down rules for the application of Regulation (EU) 2018/848 concerning organic production and labeling, specifically regarding documentation for retroactive recognition of conversion periods, organic product production, and information provided by Member States. The identified errors in the German, Maltese, and Spanish versions of Regulation 2020/464 (Article 26, paragraphs 1 to 7) pertain to references to the date of entry into force instead of the date of application. This implementing regulation (2021/1849) corrects these discrepancies in the specified language versions. The regulation entered into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The legal basis for this regulation is Regulation (EU) 2018/848, specifically Article 106, Article 143, Article 153, Article 163, Article 173 and Article 267, point d.
