**Policy Summary: Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2022/897 Regarding the Protected Geographical Indication (PGI) for "Lenticchia di Onano"**
This regulation, issued by the European Commission on June 2, 2022, formally registers "Lenticchia di Onano" as a Protected Geographical Indication (PGI). This action follows the procedure outlined in Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012 on quality schemes for agricultural products and foodstuffs. Italy submitted the application for registration, which was subsequently published in the Official Journal of the European Union (OJ C 87, 23.2.2022, p. 19). Because the Commission received no statements of opposition within the stipulated timeframe, the regulation officially enters the name "Lenticchia di Onano" into the register of protected designations of origin and protected geographical indications. The product falls under Class 1.6 (Fruit, vegetables and cereals, fresh or processed) as defined in Annex XI to Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) No 668/2014. This regulation took effect on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union. The legal basis for this regulation is the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union and Regulation (EU) No 1151/2012, specifically Article 52(2). Janusz Wojciechowski, Member of the Commission, signed the regulation on behalf of the Commission President.
