Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2023/2791 14.12.2023 COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2023/2791 of 13 December 2023 amending Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988 as regards the quantities that may be imported under certain tariff quotas for sheepmeat and goatmeat following the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Chile THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, Having regard to Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013 establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products and repealing Council Regulations (EEC) No 922/72, (EEC) No 234/79, (EC) No 1037/2001 and (EC) No 1234/2007(1), and in particular Article 187, first paragraph, points (a) to (e), thereof, Whereas: (1) Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988(2) lays down the rules for the administration of import tariff quotas designed to be used following the chronological order of dates of acceptance of customs declarations (‘first come, first served’ principle). (2) The Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Chile pursuant to Article XXVIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994 relating to the modification of concessions on all the tariff rate quotas included in the EU Schedule CLXXV as a consequence of the United Kingdom`s withdrawal from the European Union, concluded by Council Decision (EU) 2023/1796(3), amends the quantities of products to be imported under tariff quotas 09.1922, 09.2115 and 09.2116 opened in favour of Chile. (3) The amendments made by that Agreement should be reflected in Annex I, section ‘Tariff quotas in the sector of sheepmeat and goatmeat’, to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988. (4) Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988 should therefore be amended accordingly. (5) The amendment to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988 should apply to the tariff quota periods starting from 1 January 2024onwards. (6) The measures provided for in this Regulation are in accordance with the opinion of the Committee for the Common Organisation of the Agricultural Markets, HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION: Article 1 Annex I to Implementing Regulation (EU) 2020/1988 is amended in accordance with the Annex to this Regulation. (3) Council Decision (EU) 2023/1796 of 18 September 2023 on the conclusion, on behalf of the Union, of the Agreement between the European Union and the Republic of Chile pursuant to Article XXVIII of the General Agreement on Tariffs and Trade (GATT) 1994 relating to the modification of concessions on all the tariff rate quotas included in the EU schedule CLXXV as a consequence of the United Kingdom’s withdrawal from the European Union (OJ L 233, 21.9.2023, p. 1).
