COMMISSION IMPLEMENTING REGULATION (EU) 2024/1875
of 1 July 2024
registering a name in the register of protected designation of origin and protected geographical
indications (‘Twente’(PDO))
THE EUROPEAN COMMISSION,
Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union,
Having regard to Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 of the European Parliament and of the Council of 17 December 2013
establishing a common organisation of the markets in agricultural products and repealing Council Regulations (EEC)
No 922/72, (EEC) No 234/79, (EC) No 1037/2001 and (EC) No 1234/2007(1), and in particular Article 99(1) thereof,
Whereas:
(1) In accordance with Article 90(1) and (2) of Regulation (EU) 2024/1143 of the European Parliament and of the
Council(2), which deleted, among others, Articles 96 to 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013, those Articles
remain applicable to the applications for registration of geographical indications received by the Commission and
published in the Official Journal of the European Union before 13 May 2024.
(2) In accordance with Article 97(2) and (4) of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013, the Commission has examined the
application to register the name ‘Twente’ as protected designation of origin forwarded by The Netherlands and has
published it in the Official Journal of the European Union(3).
(3) No statement of objection has been received by the Commission under Article 98 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013.
(4) In accordance with Article 99(1) of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013, as amended by Regulation (EU) 2021/2117(4),
the examination procedure referred to in Article 229(2) of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 does not apply to
decisions concerning applications for registrations received by the Commission after 7 December 2021for which
the Commission has not received an admissible reasoned statement of objection,
HAS ADOPTED THIS REGULATION:
Article 1
The name ‘Twente‘(PDO) is hereby registered.
Article 2
This Regulation shall enter into force on the twentieth day following that of its publication in the Official Journal of the
European Union.
