Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1508 of 2 July 2026 correcting certain language versions of Regulation (EU) 2015/340 laying down technical requirements and administrative procedures relating to air traffic controllers’ licences and certificates pursuant to Regulation (EC) No 216/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council
**Executive Summary**
Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2026/1508, adopted on 2 July 2026, corrects substantive errors in the Czech and Portuguese language versions of Regulation (EU) 2015/340 regarding air traffic controllers' licenses. The regulation ensures uniform interpretation of instructor endorsement renewals across all EU languages. It enters into force in July 2026 but applies retroactively from 13 November 2025.
**Key Points / Main Content**
**Correction of Language Versions**
* The regulation corrects point ATCO.C.020(c) of Annex I (Part ATCO) in the Czech and Portuguese versions of Regulation (EU) 2015/340.
* The error specifically concerns the provisions for the renewal of on-the-job training instructor endorsements.
* Other language versions of the regulation are unaffected and remain unchanged.
**Regulatory Context and Harmonization**
* The error was originally introduced by Commission Implementing Regulation (EU) 2025/2143.
* The correction is necessary to prevent the coexistence of incompatible versions of the same provision within the EU.
* The measure was delivered in accordance with the opinion of the committee referred to in Article 127(1) of Regulation (EU) 2018/1139.
**Timeline and Legal Status**
* The regulation enters into force on the twentieth day following its publication in the Official Journal of the European Union.
* Application is retroactive, effective from 13 November 2025, to align with the entry into force of Regulation (EU) 2025/2143.
* The regulation is binding in its entirety and directly applicable in all Member States.
**Impact Analysis**
**Czech and Portuguese Aviation Authorities and Air Traffic Controllers**
**Impact**
These stakeholders were previously using language versions that contained substantive errors regarding the renewal of on-the-job training instructor endorsements.
**Action Required**
Authorities and personnel must adopt the corrected language for the interpretation and administrative processing of instructor endorsements, applying these standards retroactively to 13 November 2025.
**European Union Member States (General)**
**Impact**
While other language versions are not affected, the regulation ensures legal certainty and a uniform regulatory framework for air traffic controller licensing across the European Economic Area (EEA).
**Action Required**
No specific corrective action is required for other language versions, but the regulation remains directly applicable to ensure EU-wide harmonisation.
