Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2026/882 22.4.2026 COUNCIL DECISION (CFSP) 2026/882 of 21 April 2026 amending Decision (CFSP) 2022/667 on an assistance measure taking the form of a general programme for support to the African Union under the European Peace Facility for the period 2022-2024 THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 28(1) and Article 41(2) thereof, Having regard to the proposal from the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Whereas: (1) On 21 April 2022, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/667(1) which established an assistance measure taking the form of a general programme for support to the African Union under the European Peace Facility for the period 2022-2024 (the ‘assistance measure’). The assistance measure enables the financing of actions in support of the African Union approved by the Political and Security Committee by 31 December 2025. (2) The financial reference amount intended to cover expenditure related to the assistance measure had not been fully mobilised by 31 December 2025. (3) In view of persisting needs, the African Union has expressed an interest in continuing to benefit from the assistance measure. (4) To maximise support to the African Union, the assistance measure should finance actions to be approved by the Political and Security Committee by 30 April 2026. (5) Decision (CFSP) 2022/667 should therefore be amended accordingly, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 In Article 1 of Decision (CFSP) 2022/667, paragraph 1 is replaced by the following: ‘1. An assistance measure taking the form of a general programme for support to the African Union (AU) to be financed under the European Peace Facility (EPF) (“the Assistance Measure”) is hereby established. The Assistance Measure shall finance actions approved by the Political and Security Committee (PSC) by 30 April 2026.’.
