Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2025/2381 24.11.2025 COUNCIL DECISION (EU) 2025/2381 of 13 November 2025 authorising the opening of negotiations to amend the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015 THE COUNCIL OF THE EUROPEAN UNION, Having regard to the Treaty on the Functioning of the European Union, and in particular Article 207(4), first subparagraph, in conjunction with Article 218(3) and (4) thereof, Having regard to the recommendation from the European Commission, Whereas: (1) The Union is a Contracting Party to the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015(1) (the ‘Agreement’). (2) It is in the Union’s interest to take part in the forthcoming negotiations that will be held in the Council of Members of the International Olive Council of the International Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015 (the ‘Council of Members’) to amend the Agreement, considering the importance of that sector for the economy of the Union. The institutional framework of the Agreement should be updated, in particular as regards some of its objectives, the procedure to settle Members’ contributions and the procedure for the adoption of amendments to the Agreement. (3) Pursuant to Article 32 of the Agreement, the Council of Members may adopt decisions that amend the Agreement, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 1. The Commission is hereby authorised to take part in the negotiations to amend the Agreement on Olive Oil and Table Olives, 2015. 2. The negotiations shall be conducted on the basis of the negotiating directives of the Council set out in the addendum to this Decision. Article 2 The Commission is hereby nominated as the Union negotiator. Article 3 The negotiations shall be conducted in consultation with the Working Party on Commodities (PROBA).
