Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 174/2023 of 13 June 2023 amending Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, on cooperation in specific fields outside the four freedoms [2023/2570]
**Summary:**
EEA Joint Committee Decision No. 174/2023, adopted on June 13, 2023, amends Protocol 31 to the EEA Agreement, specifically concerning cooperation in fields outside the four freedoms (free movement of goods, capital, services, and people). The decision extends the cooperation of the Contracting Parties in Union actions funded from the general budget regarding the free movement of workers, coordination of social security schemes, and measures for migrants, including those from third countries. Article 1 modifies paragraphs 5 and 14 of Article 5 of Protocol 31, replacing "financial years 2021 and 2022" with "financial years 2021, 2022 and 2023," effectively continuing the cooperation for an additional year. The decision entered into force on the day following the last notification under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement and applies retroactively from January 1, 2023. The decision will be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
