Decision of the EEA Joint Committee No 176/2023 of 13 June 2023 amending Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement, on the abolition of technical barriers to trade in wine [2023/2572]
**Policy Summary**
This document outlines Decision No. 176/2023 of the EEA Joint Committee, adopted on June 13, 2023, amending Protocol 47 to the EEA Agreement concerning the abolition of technical barriers to trade in wine. The decision incorporates Commission Implementing Regulations (EU) 2022/2484 and (EU) 2022/2485 into the EEA Agreement. These regulations confer protection under Article 99 of Regulation (EU) No 1308/2013 on the names "Rivierenland PDO" and "Rosalia PDO" respectively.
The Decision will not apply to Liechtenstein, contingent upon the extension of the Agreement between the European Community and the Swiss Confederation on trade in agricultural products to Liechtenstein.
Article 1 of the Decision amends Appendix I to Protocol 47 of the EEA Agreement by inserting points 8u and 8v, referencing Regulations (EU) 2022/2484 (OJ L 323, 19.12.2022, p. 30) and (EU) 2022/2485 (OJ L 323, 19.12.2022, p. 32) respectively. Article 2 stipulates that the Icelandic and Norwegian language versions of the aforementioned regulations will be published in the EEA Supplement to the Official Journal of the European Union and will be authentic.
The decision entered into force on June 14, 2023, conditional upon the completion of all notifications required under Article 103(1) of the EEA Agreement. The Decision will be published in the EEA Section of, and the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European Union.
