amending Annex VII (Recognition of professional qualifications) to the EEA Agreement [2024/272]
THE EEA JOINT COMMITTEE,
Having regard to the Agreement on the European Economic Area (“the EEA Agreement”), and in particular Article 98
thereof,
Whereas:
(1) Iceland has notified the EFTA Surveillance Authority of updates to legislative, regulatory and administrative
provisions with regard to the issuing of evidence of formal qualifications in the fields covered by Chapter III of
Directive 2005/36/EC (Doctor of medicine). In accordance with Article 21a(4) of Directive 2005/36/EC of the
European Parliament and of the Council(1), as incorporated into Annex VII to the EEA Agreement, the EFTA
Surveillance Authority has adopted a Recommendation on 29 June 2021(2) indicating such notified changes. For
reasons of clarity and legal certainty, these updates should be reflected in the relevant adaptation to
Directive 2005/36/EC contained in Annex VII to the EEA Agreement.
(2) Annex VII to the EEA Agreement should therefore be amended accordingly,
HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION:
Article 1
In point 1 (Directive 2005/36/EC of the European Parliament and of the Council) of Annex VII to the EEA Agreement, in
the table under point (E)(a)(i), the row starting with the word “Ísland” is replaced by the following:
‘Ísland Embættispróf í læknisfræði, candidatus Háskóli Íslands Not applicable 1 January 1994’

Article 2
This Decision shall enter into force on 28 July 2021, provided that all the notifications under Article 103(1) of the EEA
Agreement have been made*.
It shall apply from 15 April 2021.
Article 3
This Decision shall be published in the EEA Section of, and in the EEA Supplement to, the Official Journal of the European
Union.
