Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2024/1308 13.5.2024 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2024/1308 of 30 April 2024 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/1/2024) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 of 16 October 2017 on the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (1), and in particular Article 9(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 9(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising the political control and strategic direction of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal from the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (the ‘High Representative’). (2) On 19 July 2022, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/1294 (2), appointing Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 16 August 2022 to 30 April 2024. (3) On 29 April 2024, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/ 1247 (3), extending the mandate of EUAM Iraq from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2026. (4) On 27 March 2024, the High Representative proposed to extend the mandate of Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of EUAM Iraq from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 The mandate of Mr Anders WIBERG as Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) is hereby extended from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2025.
