Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2024/2192 7.9.2024 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2024/2192 of 27 August 2024 on the appointment of the EU Mission Force Commander of the European Union CSDP Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) and repealing Decision (CFSP) 2023/2112 (EUTM RCA/1/2024) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38 thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2016/610 of 19 April 2016 on a European Union CSDP Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) (1), and in particular Article 5(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 5(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2016/610, the Council authorised the Political and Security Committee (PSC) to take the relevant decisions concerning the political control and strategic direction of the European Union CSDP Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA), including the decisions on the appointment of the EU Mission Force Commanders. (2) On 3 October 2023, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2023/2112 (2) appointing Brigadier General Cornel TONEA-BĂLAN as the EU Mission Force Commander of EUTM RCA. (3) On 17 July 2024, the Romanian military authorities proposed the appointment of Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel OROS to succeed Brigadier General Cornel TONEA-BĂLAN as EU Mission Force Commander of EUTM RCA. (4) On 2 August 2024, the EU Mission Commander supported the proposal of the Romanian military authorities. (5) On 9 August 2024, the EU Military Committee recommended that Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel OROS be appointed as EU Mission Force Commander of EUTM RCA from 27 September 2024. (6) A decision on the appointment of Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel OROS as EU Mission Force Commander of EUTM RCA from 27 September 2024 should be taken and Decision (CFSP) 2023/2112 should be repealed, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 Brigadier General Nicolae-Gabriel OROS is hereby appointed EU Mission Force Commander of the European Union CSDP Military Training Mission in the Central African Republic (EUTM RCA) from 27 September 2024.
