Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2024/3178 16.12.2024 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2024/3178 of 28 November 2024 on the appointment of the Special Training Commander for the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) and repealing Decision (CFSP) 2022/2097 (EUMAM Ukraine/1/2024) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38 thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2022/1968 of 17 October 2022 on a European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine) (1), and in particular Article 5(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) On 17 October 2022, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/1968 on a European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine). (2) Article 2(3) of Decision (CFSP) 2022/1968 provides that a Member State is to make available a multinational Special Training Command which is to command training activities on its soil. (3) Pursuant to Article 5(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2022/1968, the Council authorised the Political and Security Committee (PSC) to take relevant decisions, in accordance with Article 38 of the Treaty on European Union, on the appointment of the EU Commanders for EUMAM Ukraine, including the Special Training Commander. (4) On 27 October 2022, the PSC adopted Decision (CFSP) 2022/2097 (2), appointing Lieutenant General Andreas MARLOW as the Special Training Commander for EUMAM Ukraine as from the same date. (5) On 12 November 2024, the German authorities proposed the appointment of Major General Olaf ROHDE as the Special Training Commander. (6) On 14 November 2024, the EU Mission Commander supported that proposed appointment. (7) On 15 November 2024, the EU Military Committee agreed to recommend that Major General Olaf ROHDE be appointed as the Special Training Commander. (8) A decision on the appointment of Major General Olaf ROHDE as the Special Training Commander for EUMAM Ukraine should be taken. (9) Decision (CFSP) 2022/2097 should be repealed, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 Major General Olaf ROHDE is hereby appointed as the Special Training Commander for the European Union Military Assistance Mission in support of Ukraine (EUMAM Ukraine).
