Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2025/271 7.2.2025 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2025/271 of 4 February 2025 on the acceptance of a third State’s contribution to the European Union maritime security operation to safeguard freedom of navigation in relation to the Red Sea crisis (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES) (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES/2/2025) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2024/583 of 8 February 2024 on a European Union maritime security operation to safeguard freedom of navigation in relation to the Red Sea crisis (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES) (1), Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 7(2) of Decision (CFSP) 2024/583, the Council authorised the Political and Security Committee to take the relevant decisions on acceptance of the proposed contributions by third States to EUNAVFOR ASPIDES, upon the recommendation of the EU Operation Commander and of the European Union Military Committee (EUMC). (2) Following the recommendations of the EU Operation Commander and the EUMC regarding a contribution from the Republic of Albania, that contribution should be accepted and considered to be significant, HAS ADOPTED THIS DECISION: Article 1 1. The contribution from the Republic of Albania to the European Union maritime security operation to safeguard freedom of navigation in relation to the Red Sea crisis (EUNAVFOR ASPIDES) is accepted and considered to be significant. 2. The Republic of Albania is exempted from financial contributions to the budget of EUNAVFOR ASPIDES. Article 2 This Decision shall enter into force on the date of its adoption.
