Official Journal EN of the European Union L series 2025/707 11.4.2025 POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE DECISION (CFSP) 2025/707 of 8 April 2025 extending the mandate of the Head of Mission of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq) (EUAM Iraq/1/2025) THE POLITICAL AND SECURITY COMMITTEE, Having regard to the Treaty on European Union, and in particular Article 38, third paragraph, thereof, Having regard to Council Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 of 16 October 2017 on the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq)(1), and in particular Article 9(1) thereof, Whereas: (1) Pursuant to Article 9(1) of Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869, the Political and Security Committee (PSC) is authorised, in accordance with Article 38, third paragraph, of the Treaty, to take the relevant decisions for the purpose of exercising political control and strategic direction of the European Union Advisory Mission in support of Security Sector Reform in Iraq (EUAM Iraq), including the decision to appoint a Head of Mission upon a proposal of the High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security policy (the ‘High Representative’). (2) On 29 April 2024, the Council adopted Decision (CFSP) 2024/1247(2), amending Decision (CFSP) 2017/1869 and extending the mandate of EUAM Iraq from 1 May 2024 to 30 April 2026.
