All farmer complaints related to the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY) in
Maharashtra have been fully resolved.
A majority of crop insurance claims are settled within the stipulated 21 days after
the receipt of requisite yield data from the State Government. While the scheme has
been largely effective, some complaints had been received in the past regarding
delays or discrepancies in claim payments. These issues mainly stemmed from
delays in the State Government’s release of its subsidy share, incorrect or delayed
submission of insurance proposals by banks, and disputes arising from yield data
discrepancies between the State Government and insurance companies. The
pending claims tied to such issues are settled as soon as these matters are
resolved, in line with scheme provisions.
The details of complaints and grievances related to the implementation of PMFBY
registered on the Krishi Rakshak Portal and Helpline (KRPH), along with their
resolution status in Maharashtra from January to November, 2025 (as per data
received till November 27, 2025) are as follows:

4,390 4,379 100%16,40,427 16,38,871 100%
As per the PMFBY operational guidelines, if the insurance company does not make
the payment on time, a penalty of 12% is automatically calculated and levied
through the National Crop Insurance Portal (NCIP) from Kharif 2024 onwards, he
also mentioned in the reply.
