NOTIFFICATIONN
The draft of thhe followinng rules to amend the Karnatakaa Recruitmeent of Gazeetted
PProbationerrs (Appoinntment byy Competittive Examminations) Rules, 1997 which the
Governmennt of Karnaataka propooses to makke in exerccise of the powers connferred by sub-
section (1) of section 3 read withh section 8 of the Karnnataka Statee Civil Servvices Act, 11978
(Karnatakaa Act 14 of 1990) is heereby publisshed as reqquired by cllause (a) off sub-sectionn (2)
oof section 33 of the saiid Act, for tthe informaation of all persons likkely to be aaffected theereby
and notice is hereby ggiven that tthe said draaft will be taken into consideratiion after fiffteen
ddays from tthe date of iits publicatiion in Officcial Gazettee.
Anyy objection or suggestiion which mmay be received by thhe State Goovernment ffrom
any person with respect to the saiid draft beffore the exppiry of the pperiod speciified above will
bbe considerred by the State Goveernment. Objections aand Suggesttions may bbe addresseed to
Secretary tto Governmment, Deparrtment of PPersonal annd Adminisstrative Refforms, Vidhhana
Soudha, Baangalore-5660001.
DRAFFT RULES
1. TTitle and commenceement- (1)) These ruules may be called the Karnaataka
RRecruitmennt of Gazzetted Probbationers ((Appointmeent by Coompetitive Examinatiions)
(Amendmeent) Rules, 22020.
(2) TThey shall come intoo force from the datee of their ppublication in the offficial
Gazette.

2. Amendment of Schedule II: In the Karnataka Recruitment of Gazetted
Probationers (Appointment by Competitive Examinations) Rules, 1997, in Schedule II;
(1) Under the heading Section I;
(i) In the sub-heading Part-B,-
(a) Under the heading ‘written examination’, in the table, Paper VI and
Paper VII and the entries relating thereto shall be omitted;
(b) For the words and figures “Total marks for written examination
1750 marks” the words and figures “Total marks for written
examination 1250 marks” shall be substituted; and
(c) Under the Note, in item 5, for the words ‘All seven papers’ the words
“All five papers” shall be substituted;
(ii) Under the sub-heading ‘Part-C Personality test’;-
(a) In clause (2), for the words and figures ‘maximum of 200 marks’ the
words and figures “maximum of 50 marks” shall be substituted; and
(b) after clause (6) the following proviso shall be inserted at the end,
namely:-
“Provided that, in case marks so awarded in the Personality Test is
less than 40% or exceeds more than 80%, the Interview Board
Members shall record the reasons for such award”
(2) Under the heading Section II,-
(i) In the sub-heading Part-B, in the entries relating to the Main
Examination,-
(a) In the table, Paper VI and Paper VII and the entries relating thereto
shall be omitted;
(b) Under heading Paper VI: optional subject and the entries relating
thereto, shall be omitted;
