NOTIFICATION The draft of the following rules to amend the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021 in which the Government of Karnataka proposes to make in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 3 read with section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil Services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990), is hereby published as required by sub-section (2) of section 3 of the said Act for the information of all persons likely to be affected thereby and notice is hereby given that the said draft will be taken into consideration after fifteen days from the date of its publication in the Official Gazette. Any objection or suggestion which may be received by the State Government from any person with respect to the said draft before the expiry of the period specified above will be considered by the Government. Title and Commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) (Second Amendment) Rules, 2022. (2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Amendment of rule 6.- In the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021, in rule (6), in sub-rule (1),- (1) for clause (a), the following shall be substituted, namely.- “(a) In respect of Group-A and Group-B posts where there is no interview the examination shall be in the form of Objective Multiple Choice consisting of two written papers carrying 300 marks each. (a) In respect of Group-A posts, where there is interview, the examination shall be in the form of Descriptive Type consisting of two written papers carrying 300 marks each. The examination for Group-A and Group-B posts shall consist of two papers with following syllabus, namely:- (i) Paper-I.- General Paper:- Covering General Knowledge topics relating to Current Affairs, General Science, Karnataka History and Geography, Indian History and Geography, Social Sciences, General Mental Ability, matters of every day observation and practical knowledge as may be expected of a person who has passed the prescribed qualifying examination.
