Whereas it is expedient further to amend the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority Act, 2002 (Karnataka Act 18 of 2003) for the purposes hereinafter appearing; Be it enacted by the Karnataka State Legislature in the seventy fourth year of the Republic of India as follows:- 1. Short title and commencement.- (1) This Act may be called the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority (Amendment) Act, 2023. (2) It shall come into force at once. 2. Amendment of section 3.- In the Hampi World Heritage Area Management Authority Act, 2002 (Karnataka Act 18 of 2003), (hereinafter referred to as the Principal Act), in section 3, in sub-section (3),- (i) in clause (a), for the words “the Deputy Commissioner of Bellary District”, the words “The Deputy Commissioner of Vijayanagara District” shall be substituted; (ii) for clause (c), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(c) The Commissioner, Department of Archaeology, Museums and Heritage, Mysuru.”5 (iii) for clause (f), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(f) Superintendent of Police, Vijayanagara District” (iv) for clause (h), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(h) Superintending Archaeologist, Archaeological survey of India, Hampi circle, Kamalapur” (v) clause (i) shall be omitted; (vi) for clause (j), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(j)The Chief Executive Officer, Zilla Panchayat, Vijayanagara District” (vii) for clause (l), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(l) The Deputy Conservator of Forest, Vijayanagara District”; and (viii) for clause (p), the following shall be substituted, namely:- “(p) The Environmental Officer, Vijayanagara District”. 3. Amendment of section 6.- In section 6 of the Principal Act, in sub- section (3),- (i) in clause (aa), for the words “The Minister in charge of Bellary District”, the words “The Minister in charge of Vijayanagara District” shall be substituted; (ii) in clause (b), for the words “The Minister in charge of Kannada and Culture”, the words “The Minister in charge Urban Development” shall be substituted; and (iii) in clause (f), for the words “The Secretary to Government, in charge of Kannada and Culture Department”, the words “The Secretary to Government, in charge of Urban Development Department” shall be substituted. 4.
