NOTIFICATION Whereas the draft of the following rules to further to amend the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021 was published as required by clause (a) of sub-section (2) of Section 3 read with Section 8 of the Karnataka State Civil services Act, 1978 (Karnataka Act 14 of 1990) in Notification No. DPAR 102 SCR 2022, dated: 01.03.2025 in Part IV-A of the Karnataka Gazette Extraordinary dated 01.03.2025 inviting objections and suggestions from all persons likely to be affected thereby within fifteen days from the date of publication of the draft in the Official Gazette. Title and Commencement.- (1) These rules may be called the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) (3rd Amendment) Rules, 2025. (2) They shall come into force from the date of their final publication in the Official Gazette. 2. Amendment of rule 7.- In the Karnataka Civil Services (Direct Recruitment) (General) Rules, 2021 (hereinafter referred to as the said rules), after rule 7 the following proviso shall be inserted at the end, namely:- “Provided that, the Commission or any Selecting Authority may exempt a candidate from passing the test in Kannada Language (Compulsory Kannada Examination), if the candidate has passed the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination conducted by the Karnataka Secondary Education Examination Board or any Examination declared as equivalent thereto by the State Government or any Examination higher than the Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination, in which Kannada is the main language or the Second Language, or if he has studied and passed these examinations in Kannada Medium, or he has passed the Kannada Language Test conducted by the Commission or any Selecting Authority earlier.” 3. Savings.- These rule shall apply for all recruitments for which notification have been issued but the examination process has not yet commenced.
