Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs 56 Years of Trust, Service, and Nation Building Celebrating 56 Years of Shaping India’s Urban Future Posted On: 25 APR 2026 8:24PM by PIB Delhi Housing and Urban Development Corporation Ltd. (HUDCO), India’s leading techno-financing Navratna CPSE under Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs, marked its 56th Foundation Day “Sankalp Diwas” today. The celebration highlighted HUDCO’s remarkable achievements over the past five & half decades. Shri Manhoar Lal, Hon’ble Minister for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Tokhan Sahu, Hon’ble Minister of State for Housing and Urban Affairs, Shri Srinivas Katikithala, IAS, Secretary, MoHUA, along with senior officials of MoHUA and State Governments were present during the celebration.The inaugural ceremony was followed by a symposium on the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) and the Urban Invest Window (UiWIN), wherein the UiWIN Technical Assistance Framework was unveiled. The objective of the symposium was to disseminate information about these initiatives and the potential they offer to transform the urban landscape. The session was attended by senior officials of various states and several Municipal Commissioners along with HUDCO employees. Shri Manohar Lal during his address underscored HUDCO's significant contribution to nation's infrastructure development. He emphasized that, in alignment with the vision of Viksit Bharat 2047, HUDCO is poised to play a key role in harnessing the vast opportunities that lie ahead of the Govt of India’s new initiatives for urban transformation including ‘Urban Challenge Fund (UCF)’ through its new offering UiWIN.Shri Tokhan Sahu commended HUDCO for its support to various Government of India schemes, including PMAY, and for its significant contribution to the nation’s urban transformation. He observed that the pace of urbanization in India is rapid, with over 50% of the population expected to reside in cities by 2050, necessitating substantial investment in urban infrastructure. In this context, he highlighted the launch of the transformative Urban Challenge Fund as a game-changing initiative that will open new avenues for public-private partnerships. He further noted that through UiWIN, a new chapter in city transformation will be written by enabling ULBs to identify bankable projects and develop revenue-generating infrastructure with demonstrated financial viability. Secretary MoHUA stated that HUDCO has undergone a fundamental transformation and found a niche for itself, gaining recognition as a premier financial institution that is playing a catalytic and urban sector specially with the launch of UCF and UiWIN. Complementing the company for its past achievements he said HUDCO is laying the foundation for Viksit Bharat and HUDCO has an even larger role to contribute towards sustained urban growth. Speaking on the occasion CMD, HUDCO, apprised the gathering that HDUCO in FY 2025-26 has sanctioned highest ever loan of nearly 1,65,000 crore and loan disbursements of nearly Rs 52000 Crore.
