Executive Summary & Key Takeaways

The PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) Scheme accelerates the adoption of Electric Vehicles (EVs) in India by providing demand incentives for multiple EV segments like e-two wheelers, e-three wheelers, e-ambulances and e-trucks, which reduces the upfront cost of electric mobility. The scheme provides upfront incentives to consumers, reimbursed to Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEMs) by the Government of India, and supports more than 28 lakh EVs, including grant for 14,028 e-buses of STUs. The scheme also supports deployment of EV charging infrastructure and upgradation of testing facilities, allocating Rs.2,000 crore for deployment of EV Public Charging Stations (EVPCS) on a pan-India basis. As of December 31st, 2025, Rs.1,703 crore has been reimbursed to OEMs of e-2Ws and e-3Ws as reimbursement of demand incentive provided to buyers of e-2Ws and e-3Ws. This information was given by the Minister of State for Heavy Industries, Shri Bhupathiraju Srinivasa Varma in a written reply in the Rajya Sabha.
