**Policy Summary: Amendment to Import Policy for Vintage Motor Vehicles**
**Subject:** Revision of Import Policy Condition no. 1III under Chapter 87 of the ITC HS 2022, Schedule I Import Policy, pertaining to vintage motor vehicles.

**Purpose:** To align the import policy for vintage motor vehicles with the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, as amended.
**Key Change:** The policy condition regarding the import of "Cars manufactured prior to 1st January, 1950" has been revised to "Cars classified as 'Vintage motor vehicles' under sub-rule 1 of rule 81A of Chapter IIIA of Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989 as amended, are free for Import by Actual Users".
**Details:**
* Cars classified as vintage motor vehicles, according to the updated definition, are free for import by actual users.
* Policy Conditions I and II of Chapter 87 of ITC HS 2022 are not applicable to these vehicles.
* Imported vintage cars operating on public roads remain subject to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and related rules.
* These imported cars must comply with the conditions outlined in Chapter IIIA of the Central Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, as amended.
**Legal Basis:** This notification is issued in exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of the Foreign Trade (Development and Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraphs 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as amended.

S.O. (E): In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 and Section 5 of Foreign Trade (Development
&Regulation) Act, 1992, read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2023, as
amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby revises the Policy Condition no.1 (III) under
Chapter 87 of the ITC (HS) 2022, Schedule-1 (import Policy) with immediate effect as under:-
