The Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, published on Wednesday, April 23, 2025, (Chithirai 10, Visuvaavasu, Thiruvalluvar Aandu-2056) includes a notification regarding an amendment to the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation) Rules.
The notification, designated as No. SRO A-10/2025, originates from the Higher Education Department (G.O. Ms. No. 66, Higher Education (D2), 3rd April 2025). The Governor of Tamil Nadu, in exercise of powers conferred by section 53 of the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation) Act, 1976 (President's Act 19 of 1976), amends the Tamil Nadu Private Colleges (Regulation) Rules, 1976.
The amendment pertains to Rule 11 of the said Rules: Sub-rule (3) is renumbered as clause (i) of sub-rule (3). After clause (i) of sub-rule (3) is renumbered, the following clause is inserted: Vacancies in Group-D category posts (except Office Assistant) are to be filled through outsourcing and on a contract basis, following Government instructions and funded by the college. However, compassionate ground appointments are allowed in the regular time scale of pay.
