The Tamil Nadu Government Gazette, Extraordinary, published by authority, Volume No. 73, dated February 17, 2025, announces an amendment to the Tamil Nadu Rectified Spirit Rules, 2000, under Notification by the Government, Home, Prohibition and Excise Department [G.O.Ms.No. 12, Home, Prohibition and Excise (III-1)]. The amendment, issued by the Governor of Tamil Nadu in exercise of powers conferred by section 54 of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 (Tamil Nadu Act X of 1937), substitutes the expression "or silent spirit and absolute alcohol" for "or silent spirit, absolute alcohol and denatured spirit" in rule 16, sub-rule (3), clause (ii) of the said Rules. Dheeraj Kumar, Additional Chief Secretary to Government, authorised the notification.
