AmbedkarVeedhi, Bengaluru, Dated:05.01.2026 NOTIFICATION In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (2) of Section 4 of the Indian Census Act, 1948, (Act No. 37 of 1948), the Government of Karnataka is pleased to appoint the following authorities as Principal Census Officers within the meaning of the said sub-section to supervise the taking of the Census within their respective areas, namely: 1. All Deputy Commissioners of districts- in respect of their districts, including the city areas excluding Municipal Corporations. 2. All Commissioners of Municipal Corporations- Within the limits of their respective Municipal Corporations. Further, in pursuance of section 12 of the said Act, the Government of Karnataka are also pleased to authorize the above-mentioned authorities for the purpose of said section within their respective jurisdiction.
