The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Mumbai Branch Office, in association with
the Nashik Industries & Manufacturers Association (NIMA), organised an “Awareness
Seminar on BIS Certification for MSMEs and Startups” at Nashik on 15 May 2026.
The seminar was organised with the objective of creating awareness among MSMEs,
startups, entrepreneurs and manufacturers regarding BIS Certification Schemes,
Indian Standards and Quality Control Orders (QCOs). The programme aimed to
promote quality consciousness, product standardization, consumer confidence and
ease of doing business among industries.
The programme commenced with introductory remarks by Shri Shrikant Patil,
Committee Chairman for Skills & Startups, NIMA, followed by the ceremonial
lighting of the lamp. Shri Ashish Nahar, President, NIMA, delivered the welcome
address and highlighted the importance of quality standards and certification in
enhancing industrial growth and competitiveness.
The inaugural address was delivered by Shri R. R. Singh, Senior Director & Head,
BIS Mumbai Branch Office, who highlighted the role of BIS in promoting
standardization, certification and quality assurance in the country. He encouraged
industries and startups to adopt Indian Standards and avail the benefits of BIS
certification.
Technical sessions were conducted by Shri Sheetal Patil, Joint Director, BIS Mumbai
Branch Office, covering BIS Certification Schemes, Quality Control Orders (QCOs)
and support mechanisms available for MSMEs and startups. Guidance was also
provided on certification procedures and compliance requirements.
An interactive Question & Answer session was organised during the programme,
wherein participants clarified their queries related to certification, standards
implementation and regulatory compliance.
The seminar witnessed active participation from MSMEs, startups, entrepreneurs,
manufacturers and industry representatives from Nashik and nearby regions.
