Ministry of Education CABE Meetings for Union–State Synergy in Education प्रव तथ: 29 JUL 2026 6:22PM by PIB Delhi A special session of the Central Advisory Board of Education (CABE) was held on 21.09.2019 to deliberate on the Draft National Education Policy (NEP). NEP 2020 inter-alia envisages that its successful implementation requires a long-term vision, sustained expertise and coordinated efforts at the National, State, institutional and individual levels. Accordingly, the Policy recommends strengthening and empowering the CABE with an expanded mandate to serve as a platform for consultation and to develop, articulate, evaluate and review the vision of education, besides reviewing the institutional framework for achieving the objectives of NEP 2020. In order to advise the Ministry of Education on critical aspects of implementation of NEP 2020 and also to facilitate the comprehensive, holistic, synergetic, and systematic implementation of the policy across school and higher education, the Ministry of Education has constituted an Education Advisory Council (EdAC) comprising eminent experts from diverse fields of education. The Council is to advise the Ministry on critical aspects of NEP implementation, facilitate its comprehensive, holistic and synergetic implementation across school and higher education, develop an overarching roadmap, review interventions for course correction, and recommend measures for strengthening the CABE. The Government accords high importance to cooperative federalism and continuous & regular engagement with States and Union Territories on matters relating to education. Since the announcement of NEP, 2020, consultations with States/UTs, academia, industry and other stakeholders have been undertaken on a regular basis through various institutional forums to discuss and deliberate on issues related to education policies and educational reforms. These include the National Education Ministers' Conference (June 2022), the National Conference of Chief Secretaries (2022, 2023 and 2025), the 7th, 9th and 11th Governing Council Meetings of NITI Aayog (2022, 2024 and 2026 respectively), consultation- cum-review meetings with States/UTs (October and December 2022), zone-wise consultation-cum-review meetings (February, March, May and June 2023), a one-day national workshop and two regional workshops (November 2021), National Conference on Curricular and Assessment Equivalence and Improving Learning Outcomes (July 2025), Akhil Bharatiya Shiksha Samagam (2022, 2023, 2024 and 2025), the Conference of Governors (2021 and 2024), and the National Workshop on Higher and Technical Education with Secretaries of States/UTs (November 2024). Recently on 22-23 July 2026, a two-Day Conclave of State and UT Education Ministers was held in New Delhi where key policy leaders from across the country, inter-alia deliberated to review the implementation of major centrally sponsored schemes in School education, and to strengthen centre-state collaboration and knowledge sharing for better educational outcomes.
