MINISTRY OF ENVIRONMENT, FOREST AND CLIMATE CHANGE NOTIFICATION New Delhi, the 5th August, 2015 S.O. 2124(E).—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) and clause (v) of sub-section (2) of section 3 of the Environment (Protection) Act, 1986 (29 of 1986) read with sub-rule(4) of rule 5 of the Environment (Protection) Rules, 1986, the Central Government, after having dispensed with the requirement of notice under clause (a) of sub-rule(3) of rule 5 of the said rule, in public interest, hereby makes the following further amendments in the notification of the Government of India, in the erstwhile Ministry of Environment and Forests number S.O.1533(E), dated the 14th September, 2006 namely:- In the said notification, in Paragraph 3 relating to State level Environment Impact Assessment Authority, after sub-Paragrah (7), the following sub-paragraph shall be inserted, namely:- “(8) Notwithstanding anything contained in this paragraph, where the Chairman is unable to discharge his functions owing to his absence due to illness or any other cause, the other Member shall act as the Chairman and shall preside over two consecutive meetings of the Authority, or until the date on which the Chairman resumes his duty, whichever is earlier: Provided that in case the Chairman is absent for more than two consecutive meetings, the Member may continue to act as such Chairman for such further period as the State Government or the Union Territory administration concerned may, with the prior approval of the Central Government, require the member to so continue.” [F.
