The 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas is being commemorated by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) on behalf of
the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, At Prerna sthal Parliament House
Campus, on December 06, 2025, near the statue of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The commemoration of the 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas will begin with a floral tribute from the President
of India, Smt. Droupadi Murmu, Vice-President of India, Shri C.P Radhakrishnan, Prime Minister of
India, Shri Narendra Modi, Speaker, Shri Om Birla, Deputy Speaker Rajya Sabha, Shri. Hariwansh
Narayan Singh, Leader of the opposition, Parliamentarians, and many other dignitaries who attended the
VIP session in the early hours of the day.
In the course of time, the entire event will be opened up to the public to pay their obeisance at the feet of
the life-size statue of Babasaheb Dr. B.R. Ambedkar at the Parliament House Lawn. The Mahaparinirvan
Diwas of Dr. Ambedkar is annually commemorated by Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) on behalf of the
Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India. This is done to commemorate the
death anniversary of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar, a visionary social reformer, jurist, and politician. He played a
significant role in drafting the Indian Constitution and championed the cause of marginalized
communities, especially SCs/OBCs/STs/Women. His thoughts on social justice, equality, and democracy
still continue to inspire generations and the current government, which is seen in the mantra of “Sabka
Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” as propagated by our Hon’ble Prime Minister, Shri
Narendra Modi and is effectively being implemented by Chairman, DAF and Minister of Social Justice &
Empowerment, Dr. Virendra Kumar.
During this event, Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) also maintained a stall to aid in the storage of
belongings of the followers. At the same time, they paid their floral tribute to Babasaheb Dr. B.R.
Ambedkar in a befitting manner with the confluence of Buddhist chants performed by 25 Buddhist
Monks. During the celebration of the 70th Mahaparinirvan Diwas, around thousands of people might come
to pay floral tributes to the statue of Babasaheb Dr. Ambedkar at the Parliament House Lawn. The entire
event will be facilitated by the Member Secretary, Shri V.Appa Rao, Director, of DAF, Shri Manoj Tiwari,
who is acting as the Nodal Officer of the Programme.
The establishment of the Dr. Ambedkar Foundation (DAF) aimed to propagate the ideals of Babasaheb Dr.
B.R. Ambedkar. The autonomous organization was formed on March 24, 1992, and functions under the
aegis of the Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment. The DAF was essentially tasked with
implementing programs and initiatives to promote the visions and philosophies of Babasaheb Dr.
