CSIR–National Environmental Engineering Research Institute (CSIR-NEERI), Nagpur, has signed
a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Puducherry Technological University (PTU) to
foster collaborative research and jointly address critical environmental challenges in the Union
Territory of Puducherry.
The partnership aims to advance environmental sustainability through focused initiatives in
Circular Economy and Climate Change, while leveraging complementary expertise, state-of-the-
art facilities, and advanced AI-driven tools.
CSIR-NEERI, a premier institute under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR),
is at the forefront of developing innovative solutions to contemporary environmental challenges
and promoting sustainable development. PTU, established in 2020, is the first technological
university of the Union Territory of Puducherry and plays a key role in advancing technical
education and research in the region.
The MoU was formally signed on 18 May 2026 by Dr. S. Venkata Mohan, Director, CSIR-NEERI
and Prof. S. Mohan, Vice Chancellor, PTU, at Puducherry Technological University (PTU). The
agreement envisages collaborative research projects, exchange of faculty and research scholars,
and joint organization of seminars, workshops, and conferences in areas of mutual interest.
Dr. R. Sivacoumar and Er. R. Karthik from CSIR-NEERI Chennai Regional Centre (CRC) attended
the signing ceremony. Representing PTU were Dr. K. Vivekanandan, Dr. R. Sundaramurthi, Dr.
Ka. Selvaradjou, and faculty members including Prof. L. Nithiyanandan, Prof. Gnanou Florence
Sudha, Prof. K. Mahadevan, Prof. G. V. Ramakrishna, and Prof. S. Govindarajan.This collaboration marks a significant step towards strengthening academia-research linkages
and delivering impactful, science-based solutions for regional environmental priorities.
