In exercise of the powers conferred by Section 27(3)(b) of the Representation of the
People act, 1950, Government of Karnataka, with concurrence of the Election Commission
of India, is pleased to direct that for the purposes of the Elections to the Legislative Council
of the State of Karnataka in the Teachers' Constituencies, the educational institutions
within the State of Karnataka specified below shall be deemed to be not lower in standard
than that of secondary school. The following information is published hereunder for
general information: -
1. High school / Secondary Schools recognized by the department of School Education
and Literacy.
2. Colleges Affiliated with Universities Agricultural Sciences of Bangalore, Mandya,
Dharwad, Shivamogga and Raichur.
3. Pre-University Colleges.
4. Industrial Training Institutes.
5. Law colleges coming under Department of Law, Justice and Human Rights.
6. Polytechnic colleges, Engineering colleges and Junior Technical Schools.
7. Govt First Grade Colleges.
8. Aided First Grade Colleges.
9. DIET, CTE, GTTI, and D.EL.ED Educational Institutions recognized by Department
of State Educational Research and Training.
10. Nursing Colleges, Medical Colleges, Unani Colleges, Pharmacy Colleges, Ayurveda
Colleges, Homeopathy Colleges, Allied Health Science Colleges, Physiotherapy
Colleges, Naturopathy Colleges, Sowa-rig-pa College, Dental Colleges under Rajeev
