On the eve of the 134th Ambedkar Jayanti today, Directorate General of Taxpayer Services,
Mumbai Zonal Unit (DGTS, MZU) paid homage to Bharat Ratna Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. Principal
Additional Director General Sumit Kumar, along with officers of DGTS, MZU, created a dedicated
‘Prerana Sthal’ wall and offered floral tribute, remembering his invaluable contribution to the
Constitution of India, making of modern India and his enduring inspiration to democratic values
and public service.Further, DGTS, MZU organized a webinar today via an online platform on the topic,
“Constitutional Rights, Constitutionalism, and Dr. B.R. Ambedkar’s Contribution to the Shaping
of Modern India,” with the aimed at sensitising participants on constitutional values and the
enduring legacy of Dr. B.R. Ambedkar.
The webinar was graced by DGTS, MZU Principal Additional Director General Sumit Kumar, who
delivered the Welcome Address and highlighted the significance of constitutional values in
governance and public administration. He emphasised the importance of awareness and
education in strengthening democratic institutions and citizen engagement.
The session witnessed the presence of eminent academicians and dignitaries including, BCT
College of Law, New Panvel Principal Dr. Sanavi Deshmukh, and C.K. Thakur A.C.S. College, New
Panvel Principal Dr.S.K. Patil. Participation was also received from various institutions including
Kirti College, Dadar; Govt. Degree College, Haldwani; Aashirwad Hindi School, Kalyan; Baba
Bodse Junior College; R.K. Hindi School and Junior College; Kendriya Vidyalaya Colaba 1;
Kendriya Vidyalaya Colaba 3; Kendriya Vidyalaya Koliwada, along with several other colleges and
institutions.
The webinar featured addresses by, DGTS, MZU Additional Director S.V. Prakash and Joint
Director Joseph G. Patil who shared their perspectives on governance, public service, and
institutional frameworks.
The Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai Assistant Professor Amit Kumar provided a
