In Rajya Sabha, today the Union Minister for Tribal Affairs Shri Jual Oram laid a statement on the table of the
house on the Dharti Aaaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan (DAJGUA), replying to a starred question of
Smt. Ramilaben Becharbhai Bara the Union Minister said that Dharti Aaba Janjatiya Gram Utkarsh Abhiyan
aims to benefit nearly 5 crore tribal people by addressing infrastructural gaps and improving access to
healthcare, education , Anganwadi facilities and livelihood opportunities. The initiative targets 63,843 tribal
villages across 2,911 blocks in 549 districts spanning 26 States and 4 Union Territories. The program is set to

be implemented within a defined time frame from its inception on 2 October, 2024 till 31 March, 2029.
The Abhiyan comprises of 25 interventions implemented by 17 line Ministries.
A robust mechanism has been envisaged for integrated real time monitoring and evaluating through PM Gati
Shakti and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs on health, education, livelihood, infrastructure sectors) for each
intervention with timeline-based targets. The Ministry has established a PMU at the national level. This unit
works in close coordination with partner ministries to assess the progress of their respective interventions
under the Abhiyan. It also engages with States to monitor both the physical and financial progress of
implementation at the State level. Regular review meetings with the respective State Governments are also
conducted to oversee the progress of sanctioned projects. In addition, continuous interaction with line
ministries is also done to ensure that convergence schemes are progressing in line with the scheduled targets.
