ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE AND FAME SCHEME IN
MAHARASHTRA
2332. SHRI MILIND MURLI DEORA:
Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state:
(a) the details (2019-20 to 2023-24) of public EV charging stations sanctioned, installed and
operational in Maharashtra under FAME India Phases I and II, district-wise, city-wise and year-
wise;
(b) the Central funds sanctioned, released and utilised for EV charging infrastructure in the State,
year-wise;
(c) number of electric buses sanctioned and delivered under FAME Phase II to MSRTC, PMPML,
BEST and other Maharashtra agencies;
(d) whether any FAME-funded charging stations are non-functional, sub-standard or lack
interoperability, if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the measures taken to ensure balanced EV charging infrastructure expansion across Tier-II and
Tier-III cities, including Nashik, Aurangabad, Nagpur, Solapur and Kolhapur beyond Mumbai-
Pune?
ANSWER

(a) & (b): FAME-II scheme of the Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) was implemented
from 01.04.2019 to 31.03.2024. Under FAME-II scheme, there was no state-wise, district-wise or
city-wise allocation or sanction of EV charging stations. Under FAME-II scheme, MHI disbursed
financial support of ₹898.37 crore for setting up of Electric Vehicle Public Charging Stations
(EVPCS) on a pan-India basis including Maharashtra.
The number of installed and operational (energized) EVPCS in Maharashtra, under the
FAME-II scheme, as on 01.07.2026, is as under:

As per inputs received from 3 OMCs, the details of EVPCS installed and operational by 3
OMCs, in Maharashtra under the FAME-II scheme are provided at Annexure.
(c): Under the FAME –II scheme, 830 electric buses were sanctioned & deployed in
Maharashtra as per details provided below:-2-

(d) & (e): There is no state-wise or district-wise sanction of EV PCS under the FAME-II
scheme. Under the FAME-II scheme, 802 nos. of EVPCS have been installed in Maharashtra, out
of which 737 are operational. Further, none of the EVPCS sanctioned under the FAME-II scheme
are sub-standard or noncompliant with interoperability norms.
Further, Rs.2,000 crore has been allocated for deployment of EV charging infrastructure
under PM E-DRIVE scheme on a pan India basis including Tier-II, Tier-III cities and Nashik,
Aurangabad, Nagpur, Solapur and Kolhapur beyond Mumbai-Pune.
