ELECTRIC VEHICLE CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE AND FAME SCHEME IN
MAHARASHTRA
1528. SHRI MILIND MURLI DEORA:
Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state:
(a) the district-wise, city-wise and year-wise details, from 2019–20 to 2023–24, of public
Electric Vehicle (EV) charging stations sanctioned, installed and operational in Maharashtra
under FAME India Scheme Phases I and II;
(b) the year-wise Central funds sanctioned, released and utilised for EV charging infrastructure
in the State;
(c) the number of electric buses sanctioned and delivered under FAME Phase II to MSRTC,
PMPML, BEST and other agencies in Maharashtra;
(d) whether any FAME-funded charging stations are non-functional, sub-standard or
noncompliant with interoperability norms, if so, the details thereof; and
(e) the measures ensuring equitable deployment across Tier-II and Tier-III cities?

(a) & (b): Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI), under the FAME India Scheme Phase-II,
sanctioned financial support of ₹873.50 crore to three Oil Marketing Companies (OMCs),
namely BPCL, IOCL and HPCL, for setting up of public Electric Vehicle Charging Stations
(EVPCS) on a pan-India basis including Maharashtra. Under the Scheme, no State-wise,
district-wise or city-wise allocation or sanction of EV charging stations was made.

As per inputs received from 3 OMCs, the details of EVPCS installed and operational
by 3 OMCs, in Maharashtra under the FAME-II Scheme are provided at Annexure.
Further, FAME-I scheme was implemented from April 2015 to March 2019. As per
information appearing in PIB dated 26.07.2022 it is seen that 17 EVCS were operational on
Mumbai-Pune Expressway under FAME-I scheme.-2-
(c): Under FAME India Phase-II, 830 electric buses were sanctioned for deployment in
Maharashtra. All the 830 electric buses had been delivered to the concerned State Transport
Undertaking (STUs). STU wise details are as under :

(d) Under the FAME-II Scheme out of total 8,932, EV Chargers sanctioned to 3 OMCs to
be setup on pan India basis, 8,189 are functional /energised. Further, none of the EVPCS
sanctioned under the FAME-II are sub-standard or noncompliant with interoperability norms.
(e): Deployment of EV Charging Stations, under the FAME-II Scheme, was implemented
on a pan India basis including Tier-II and Tier-III cities.
