GOVERNMENT OF INDIA MINISTRY OF HEAVY INDUSTRIES RAJYA SABHA UNSTARRED QUESTION NO. 740 ANSWERED ON 24.07.2026 EV CHARGING INFRASTRUCTURE IN ANDHRA PRADESH INCLUDING KAKINADA 740. SHRI SANA SATHISH BABU: Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state: (a) the number of public EV charging stations established in Andhra Pradesh, including Kakinada, since 2022, year-wise, district-wise; (b) the criteria adopted for selection and prioritisation of cities, highways and urban centres for such installations in Andhra Pradesh; (c) the outcomes achieved under these initiatives in Andhra Pradesh, particularly Kakinada, and their impact on promoting electric mobility; and (d) the mechanism in place for monitoring utilisation, operational efficiency, uptime and maintenance of these charging stations in Kakinada? ANSWER THE MINISTER OF STATE FOR HEAVY INDUSTRIES (SHRI BHUPATHIRAJU SRINIVASA VARMA) (a), (b) & (d): The details of district-wise EV charging stations established in Andhra Pradesh including Kakinada District as per data received through BHEL portal as on 31.03.2026 is provided at Annexure I. The location of EVPCS is to be decided by the person/organisation installing the charger. The Ministry of Power issued the “Guidelines for Installation and Operation of Electric Vehicle Charging Infrastructure–2024” on 17.09.2024 to strengthen EV charging including monitoring utilisation, operational efficiency, uptime and maintenance of these charging stations. These guidelines are applicable on a pan-India basis, including in the State of Andhra Pradesh and Kakinada district. (c): As on 31.03.2026, total number of EV charging stations installed in Kakinada is 74 as per information received from BHEL. Further, 60,962 EVs were sold in Andhra Pradesh under the FAME-II scheme out of which, 7,333 EVs were sold in the East Godavari district (which historically included Kakinada). Similarly, 1,33,009 EVs have been sold under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme in the state of Andhra Pradesh out of which 14,965 have been sold in the East Godavari District (which historically included Kakinada District) during the period 01.04.2024 till 21.07.2026. *******Annexure I Details of District-wise EV Charging Stations installed in Andhra Pradesh including Kakinada as on 31.03.2026 are as under: (Nos.)
