**Policy Summary: Extension of IEC Modification Period and Fee Waiver**
This notification, issued by the Directorate General of Foreign Trade (DGFT), Ministry of Commerce and Industry, Government of India, revises the provision in paragraph 2.05 d of the Foreign Trade Policy, 2015-20. The notification, dated July 5, 2021, extends the period for electronically updating Import-Export Code (IEC) details for the current year (2021-22) until July 31, 2021. Previously, IEC holders were required to update their details during the April-June period. The extension applies to all IEC holders, and even in cases where there are no changes to IEC details, online confirmation is required. Furthermore, the notification waives the fee for any IEC modifications made during the month of July 2021. This measure is effective for the year 2021-22 only.
The notification is issued in exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the FTDDR Act, 1992 , read with paragraph 1.02 and 2.01 of the Foreign Trade Policy, 201520, as amended from time to time.

In exercise of powers conferred by Section 3 read with Section 5 of the

2015-20, as amended from time to time, the Central Government hereby revises the
provision in para 2.05 (d) as under:

3. Effect of this Notification: Period of modification of IEC is extended for the year
2021-22 only till 31.07.2021, and no fee shall be charged on modifications carried out in
IEC during the period upto 31st July, 2021.
