Extract of the minutes of meeting of the General Council of the Bar Council of India which was held on
Sunday, the 10th January, 2016 at 10 AM in the premises of Bar Council of India at New Delhi.
Item No. 1/2016 (Council)
Resolution No.1/2016.—The meeting for election of office-bearers of the Bar Council of India was
held in the premises of Bar Council of India today i.e. on 10.01.2016. The election for all the posts were held
except for the post of Vice-Chairman. The meeting was, presided over by Mr. Apurba Kumar Sharma, Senior
Advocate and Senior Member of BCI on the unanimous request of the members present in the meeting.
As per earlier resolutions, members elected as office-bearers today are to hold office w,e,f, 18th April,
2016 and will continue to hold office till 17th April, 2018. For the post of Chairman, the name of Mr. Manan
Kumar Mishra was proposed by Mr. Vijay Bhatt and Mr. S. Prabakaran, Member & Co-Chairman
respectively and was seconded by Mr. Biri Singh Sinsinwar and Mr. Debi Prasad Dhal. No other name was
proposed for the post of Chairman, BCI.
Mr. Manan Kumar Mishra was declared elected unanimously as the Chairman of Bar Council of India
for a period of two years i.e. w.e.f. 18th April, 2016 to 17th April, 2018.
