This document, RBI2019-20/168, issued by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) on February 28, 2020, announces the assignment of Lead Bank responsibility for five newly formed districts in the State of Tamil Nadu. The new districts, carved from existing districts, were created via Government of Tamil Nadu Gazette Notifications G.O. Ms. No.425, 427, 429 and 431 dated November 12, 2019.
The Lead Bank assignments are as follows:
* **Kallakurichi** (carved from Viluppuram district): Indian Bank (Working Code: 00H)
* **Tenkasi** (carved from Tirunelveli district): Indian Overseas Bank (Working Code: 00I)
* **Chengalpattu** (carved from Kancheepuram district): Indian Bank (Working Code: 00J)
* **Tirupathur** (carved from Vellore district): Indian Bank (Working Code: 00K)
* **Ranipet** (carved from Vellore district): Indian Bank (Working Code: 00L)
The circular also allots District Working Codes for BSR reporting purposes. The lead bank responsibilities for the original districts and other districts in Tamil Nadu remain unchanged.

Assignment of Lead Bank Responsibility
The Government of Tamil Nadu vide Gazette Notifications G.O. Ms. No.425, 427, 429 and
431 dated November 12, 2019 had notified the formation of five new districts in the State of
Tamil Nadu. It has been decided to assign the lead bank responsibility of the new districts as

Caution: RBI never sends mails, SMSs or makes calls asking for personal information like bank account details, passwords, etc. It never
keeps or offers funds to anyone. Please do not respond in any manner to such offers.2
2. Further, the District Working Codes of the new districts have also been allotted for the
purpose of BSR reporting by banks.
3. There is no change in the lead bank responsibilities of the erstwhile districts and of other
districts in the State of Tamil Nadu.
