Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment From Recovery to Renewed Purpose Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts in Hailakandi Assam Support Helps Sandeep Rebuild Family Ties and Return to Work Now Employed at the Centre That Supported His Recovery

After studying through Class 9, he moved to Guwahati to stay with his aunt and seek work. He learned to drive and began earning a living, but substance use, which began under peer influence, gradually developed into dependency.

His health, work and relationships suffered. Much of his income went towards substance use, leaving him under financial strain and increasingly isolated. Sandeep wanted to recover, regain his family’s trust and become financially independent. His family continued to encourage him to seek help.

On 6 September 2025, Sandeep received support through the Integrated Rehabilitation Centre for Addicts

(IRCA) run by South Borbond Gram Unnayan Samity in Hailakandi.

The centre provided medical care, psychological and family counselling, rehabilitation support, and motivational and behavioural guidance. Group activities and life-skills guidance helped him build healthier routines, manage stress and reconnect with others.

Sandeep while expressing his emotions and happiness said, “With my family's support and the care I received at IRCA, I am rebuilding my life and working again”.Following his treatment, Sandeep has made positive progress in his recovery. He is working to maintain a life free from substance use and has reconnected with his family. He now works as a multi-tasking staff member at IRCA Hailakandi, giving him greater financial stability and a chance to contribute to the centre that supported his recovery.
