In the reference G.O.1st read above, the Government of Andhra Pradesh have
notified AP Renewable Energy Export Policy 2020 to promote Renewable Energy
Power Projects in the State. Under the policy, it is proposed to aggregate the lands
in wind/solar power potential areas and allocate to the developers for setting up of
Renewable Energy Power Projects.
2. The Vice Chairman & Managing Director, NREDCAP, Tadepaili, Guntur
district in the reference 3rd above, has stated that the MNRE, Government of lndia,
New Delhi has earlier considered the requirement of land for solar power projects as
5 acres per MW and whereas for wind power projects as 2.5 acres per MW.
However, due to improvement of efficiencies and increase in capacity of solar
modules the requirement of land has come down in the recent times. As per the
directions issued during the review of Energy activities by the Hon’ble Chief minister,
the views of various stakeholders on extent of land to be allocated for each MW have
been obtained in regard to allocation of land for setting up of Renewable Energy
Projects. Based on the feedback received from the stakeholders, it was proposed to
allot the land to solar and wind power projects for each MW capacity as follows: -
1. Solar Power Projects without tracking: 4.5 acres on AC capacity
2. Solar Power Projects with Single-Axis tracking: 6 acres on AC capacity
3. Wind Power Projects 2.5 acres
3. As per the guidelines of Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE),
Government of India, New Delhi, the land requirement for Solar Power projects is

5 Acres/ MW. Further, it was indicated by the Solar Energy Corporation of lndia
(SECI) in their official website that land requirement would be 5 Acres/ MW in case
of Solar Power Projects. The solar power plant consists of installation of Solar
Modules, inverters, Control Panels, Substation, etc., and the total land of 5 Acres/
MW will consist of all these project components. ln other States like Rajasthan, the
land considered under Solar Power Policy 2019 is 2 HA/ MW (5 Acres/ MW). ln case
of Trackers are installed to improve overall efficiency of the solar power plant, the
land requirement will be higher and under Rajasthan Solar Policy 2019, the land
considered for Solar Power plants with Trackers is 3 Ha/ MW (7.5 Acres/ MW).
4. As per the Government land allotment policy issued vide GO Ms No. 571,
Dt.14.09.2012 by Revenue (Assn-I) Dept., the land considered for allocation of Solar
Power Projects is 2 HA/ MW (5 Acres/ MW)
5. ln respect of Wind Power Projects, the land requirement would be 1 HA/MW
(2.5 Acres/ MW) and the land allotment is considered on footprint basis. The land is
required for lowering windmills and movement of crane in case of maintenance and
accordingly the land is proposed as 1 HA/MW (2.5 Acres/ MW).
6. After detailed examination of the entire matter and taking consideration of the
views of the stakeholders and various aspects, the Government hereby issues
orders on allocation of land for setting up of solar and wind power projects for each
MW capacity is as follows:
1.Solar Power Projects without tracking: 4.5 acres on AC capacity
2.Solar Power Projects with Single-Axis tracking: 6 acres on AC capacity
3.Wind Power Projects 2.5 acres
7. The Vice Chairman & Managing Director, New and Renewable Energy
Development Corporation of Andhra Pradesh Ltd., Tadepalli, Guntur District shall
take further necessary action accordingly.
8. This order issues with the concurrence of Finance Department vide
