On February 6, 2026, The Ministry of Heavy Industries (MHI) announced its engagement with the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) of Japan to explore the Indian Capital Goods industry with Japanese manufacturers, focusing on technology transfer, skill development, and cooperation in advanced manufacturing under the India-Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership (IJICP). To promote technological development and boost domestic manufacturing in the Capital Goods sector, MHI is implementing the “Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital Goods Sector- Phase II” scheme. So far, 29 projects have been sanctioned under this scheme, with a project cost of Rs. 891.37 crores and a Government Contribution of Rs. 714.64 crore. manufacturers, particularly with regard to technology transfer, skill development and cooperation in
advanced manufacturing technologies under the India–Japan Industrial Competitiveness Partnership
(IJICP).
Yes. In order to encourage the technological development and to augment the indigenous manufacturing
in the Capital Goods sector so as to strengthen the industrial production and exports, Ministry of Heavy
Industries (MHI) is implementing the Scheme for “Enhancement of Competitiveness in the Indian Capital
Goods Sector- Phase II”. Under the Scheme, 29 projects with project cost of Rs. 891.37 crores and
