Goa joins ‘Khelo India Dialogue’ as PM Modi
interacts with youth
Programme held at educational institutions in Goa to promote
sports, fitness and healthy lifestyles among youngsters

The Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, Government of India, organised the national
programme ‘Khelo India Dialogue – Khel Ki Baat, PM Modi Ke Saath’ across the country today.
The programme connected youth, sportspersons, NSS volunteers and educational institutions
from more than 1,500 locations, with Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi interacting virtually
with young participants.
In Goa, MY Bharat Goa, under the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports, in collaboration with NSS
Goa State, organised the programme at St. Xavier’s College, Mapusa; Vidya Prabodhini College,
Porvorim, Government Arts and Science College, Sanquelim; Rosary College of Arts and
Commerce, Navelim and Shri Gopal Gaonkar Memorial Goa Multi-Faculty College, South Goa.
Goa Chief Minister Dr. Pramod Sawant was present at the programme held at Government Arts
and Science College, Sanquelim. The Chief Minister also interacted with young students,
athletes and volunteers.
Union Minister of State for Power and New & Renewable Energy Shri Shripad Naik and Rajya
Sabha MP Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade participated in the programme at St. Xavier’s College,
Mapusa.
Speaking on the occasion, Union Minister of State Shri Shripad Naik highlighted the important
role of sports in shaping the lives of young people. He said that regular participation in sports
helps youngsters stay away from substance abuse while promoting physical fitness, disciplineand a healthy lifestyle.
Shri Naik also underlined the important role of youth in nation-building and said that the vision
of a Viksit Bharat can be achieved through the active participation and contribution of the
country’s young population.
Rajya Sabha MP Shri Sadanand Shet Tanavade stressed the need to nurture children and
provide them with opportunities to realise their full potential. He said that the growth and
development of today’s children are crucial to achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat by 2047.
During the programme, students shared their views on the growing sporting culture in the
country and appreciated the various initiatives of the Central and State Governments for
promoting sports and supporting sportspersons. They also expressed their gratitude to Prime
Minister Shri Narendra Modi for the policies and initiatives aimed at encouraging sports and
providing greater opportunities to athletes.
As part of the programme, participants also took the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan Pledge,
reaffirming their commitment to building a healthy and substance-free society.
The programme was organised ahead of National Sports Day, observed every year on August 29
to commemorate the birth anniversary of Major Dhyan Chand, one of India’s legendary hockey
players.
The initiative aims to encourage greater participation of young people in sports and promote
physical fitness, discipline, healthy lifestyles and an active way of life. Students, NSS volunteers,
sportspersons and youth from the participating institutions attended the programme.* * *
