WHEREAS, the report of the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation stating that Thiru.V.Babu, 189th Ward Councillor of Chennai Corporation is to be removed under section 52 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 (Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 1999), as he abuses the powers vested in him under the said Act, has been received in Government; AND WHEREAS, as required under sub-section (2) of section 52, the Government caused a notice containing the statement of charges to Thiru.V.Babu and he was directed to submit his written statement of defence/ reply, to the Government within a reasonable period of fifteen days from the date of receipt of the show cause notice; AND WHEREAS, after receiving the reply from Thiru.V.Babu, 189th Ward Councillor, the report of the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation was sought for. The Commissioner, Chennai Corporation has stated that as consequence of undue interference of the Ward Councillor, the water connections were provided to some of the building owners only as against nearly 4800 applications received and thereby abused his powers; AND WHEREAS, the Government independently and carefully examined the charges relating to the functioning of Thiru.V.Babu, 189th Ward Councillor of Chennai Corporation, sent by the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation, the reply submitted by the said Councillor and the opinion of the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation, have come to the conclusion that the reply furnished by the said Councillor Thiru. V.Babu deserves to be rejected as he wilfully disobeys the provisions of the said Act and abuses the powers vested in him; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 52 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 (Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 1999), the Governor of Tamil Nadu, hereby removes Thiru.V.Babu, 189th Ward Councillor of Chennai Corporation from the office of the Councillor of the 189th Ward of the said Corporation with immediate effect. WHEREAS, the report of the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation stating that Thiru.K.P.Chokkalingam, 5th Ward Councillor is to be removed under section 52 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 (Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 1999), as he wilfully omits, refuses to carry out the provisions of the said Act by preventing the activities relating to infrastructure development which proposed to be done in 5th Ward of the Chennai Corporation, has been received in Government; AND WHEREAS, the Government caused a notice as required under sub-section (2) of section 52 containing the statement of charges to Thiru.K.P.Chokkalingam and he was directed to submit his written statement of defence/reply, to the Government within a reasonable period of fifteen days, from the date of receipt of the show cause notice; AND WHEREAS, after receiving the reply from Thiru.K.P.Chokkalingam, 5th Ward Councillor, the report of the Commissioner, Chennai Corporation was sought for. NOTIFICATION WHEREAS, the report of the Director of Municipal Administration stating that Thiru.C.Jayapradeep, 40th Ward Councillor and Wards Committee Chairman, Zone 3 of Tambaram Corporation is to be removed under section 52 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 (Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 1999), as he wilfully omits, refuses to carry out the provisions of the said Act by preventing the activities relating to infrastructure development undertaken in Zone 3 of Tambaram Corporation and abuses the powers vested in him under the said Act, has been received in Government; AND WHEREAS, as required under sub-section (2) of secion 52 of the said Act, the Government caused a notice containing the statement of charges to Thiru.C.Jayapradeep and he was directed to submit his written statement of defence/reply, to the Government within a reasonable period of fifteen days, from the date of receipt of the show cause notice; AND WHEREAS, after receiving the reply from Thiru.C.Jayapradeep, 40th Ward Councillor and Wards Committee Chairman, Zone 3, Tambaram Corporation the report of the Director of Municipal Administration was sought for. The Director of Municipal Administration in his report has stated that he did not conduct the meeting properly and creating various obstacles in providing basic facilities to the people and he has abused his powers. Further, the Director of Municipal Administration, in his report, has confirmed the above said charges levelled against the said Councillor Thiru.C.Jayapradeep;TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY 3 AND WHEREAS, the Government independently and carefully examined the charges relating to the functioning of Thiru.C.Jayapradeep, 40th Ward Councillor and Wards Committee Chairman, Zone 3, Tambaram Corporation sent by the Director of Municipal Administration, the reply submitted by the said Councillor and the opinion of the Director of Municipal Administration, have come to the conclusion that the reply furnished by the said Councillor and Wards Committee Chairman, Thiru.C.Jayapradeep deserves to be rejected as he wilfully omits, refuses and disobeys the provisions of the said Act and abuses the powers vested in him; NOW, THEREFORE, in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 52 of the Tamil Nadu Urban Local Bodies Act, 1998 (Tamil Nadu Act 9 of 1999), the Governor of Tamil Nadu, hereby removes Thiru.C.Jayapradeep, 40th Ward Councillor and Wards Committee Chairman, Zone 3, Tambaram Corporation from the office of the Councillor of the 40th Ward and Wards Committee Chairman, Zone 3 of the said Corporation with immediate effect.
