The following draft amendment to the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which is proposed to be made in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 111 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988) is hereby published for the information of all persons, likely to be affected thereby, as required under sub-section (1) of section 212 of the said Act. 2. Notice is hereby given that the draft amendment will be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of fifteen days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and that any objection or suggestion, which may be received from any person with respect thereto before the date of expiry of the aforesaid period will be considered by the Government of Tamil Nadu. 3. Draft Amendment In the said Rules, in rule 324, in sub–rule (a), after the expression “200 centimetres’’, the expression “where standing passengers are permitted as per the relevant stage carriage permit shall not be less than one hundred and fifty centimetres and not more than two hundred centimetres where standing passengers are not permitted as per the relevant stage carriage permit” shall be inserted. Ex-III-1(a)—(152) [1]2 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY Explanatory Note: As per the definition of Mini Bus under clause (o) of rule 3 of the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989, as well as the provisions of the New Comprehensive Scheme, 2024, it is needless to state that a vehicle constructed as Mini Bus on a wheel base of not exceeding 390 centimetres can carry maximum of 25 passengers and minimum of 6 passengers.
