The following draft amendment to the Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicles Rules, 1989, which is proposed to be made in exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of section 111 of the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988 (Central Act 59 of 1988) is hereby published for the information of all persons, likely to be affected thereby, as required under sub-section (1) of section 212 of the said Act. 2. Notice is hereby given that the draft amendment will be taken into consideration on or after the expiry of fifteen days from the date of publication of this Notification in the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette and that any objection or suggestion, which may be received from any person with respect thereto before the date of expiry of the aforesaid period will be considered by the Government of Tamil Nadu. 3. Objection or suggestion, if any, should be addressed in duplicate to the Additional Chief Secretary to Government, Home, Prohibition and Excise Department, Secretariat, Chennai- 600 009. Draft Amendment In the said Rules, in rule 319, after the fourth proviso, the following proviso shall be added namely:- “Provided also that in the case of mini bus, there shall be, on the left side of the vehicle, an entrance-cum-exit or an entrance in the rear and an exit in the front of the vehicle”. Ex-III-1(a)—(437) [1] [1]2 TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE EXTRAORDINARY Explanatory Note To comply with the provisions of the Amendment No: 13 (11/2022) to AIS-052 (Rev.1): Code of Practice for bus Body Design Approval with respect to structure, design, minimum number of service doors etc., of the operational use of the mini bus, this proposal is made to add a new proviso after the fourth proviso to rule 319 of Tamil Nadu Motor Vehicle Rule, 1989, facilitating the operators to put-up mini buses having on the left side of the vehicle, an entrance-cum-exit or an entrance in the rear and an exit in the front of the vehicle, as provided therein.
