[G.O. Ms. No. 28, Home, Prohibition and Excise (III-2), 12th July 2024, ஆனி 28, குச�ோதி, திருைள்ளுைர் ஆண்டு-2055.] No. II(1)/HOPE/16/2024.—In exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (1) of Section 18-B of the Tamil Nadu Prohibition Act, 1937 (Tamil Nadu Act X of 1937), the Governor of Tamil Nadu hereby makes the following amendment to the Prohibition and Excise Department Notification No.II(1)/PE/239(d)/81, published at page 2 of Part II—Section 1 of the Tamil Nadu Government Gazette Extraordinary, dated the 1st May 1981, as subsequently amended:- Amendments In the said Notification, in the TABLE, in the Annexure,- (1) under the heading “ORDINARY BRANDS’’, Under the sub-heading “Thiruvalargal Empee Distilleries Limited’’, after the entry “Old Chef Deluxe Brandy’’, the entry “Mclene Original Brandy’’, shall be added; (2) under the heading “MEDIUM BRANDS’’ under the sub-heading “Thiruvalargal Empee Distilleries Limited'', after the entry “SNJ No. 1 Super strong Brandy’’, the entries “All Gold Classic Brandy” and “Honey Dew Gold Brandy’’ shall be added. Ms. No. 14, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment [SW 8(1)], 4th March 2024, மோசி 21, சேோபகிருது, திருைள்ளுைர் ஆண்டு-2055.] Read: 1. From the Director of Social Defence, letter No.7464-D1-2022-I/82052/2024, dated 21.02.2024.July 31, 2024] TAMIL NADU GOVERNMENT GAZETTE 79 Order: No. 14, Social Welfare and Women Empowerment [SW 8(1)], dated: 4th March 2024. In Government Order first read above the name of the Department of Approved Schools and Vigilance Sevices was changed into "Department of Social Defence". 2. The Hon'ble Minister for Finance and Human Resources Management during the Budget speech on 19.02.2024, while presenting the Budget Estimates for the year 2024-2025 among others has made the following announcement:- "In accordance with the recommendations put forth by the One-man committee chaired by former Justice Thiru K Chandru, which was constituted to provide comprehensive suggestions for the efficient operation and administration of Government Observation Homes, Special Homes, and Places of Safety, the Government has decided to implement necessary reforms in this sector. Consequently, the department, currently known as the, "Directorate of Social Defence", will suitably be renamed as the "Department of Children Welfare and Special Services". 3. In pursuance to the above announcement, the Director of Social Defence in his letter read above, has sent a proposal to Government to issue suitable orders for changing the nomenclature of the department from "Department of Social Defence as "Department of Children Welfare and Special Services" in english and "குழந்தைகள் நலன் மற்றும் சிறப்புப் பணிகள் து்ற" in Tamil. 4. The Government after careful examination, accept the proposal of the Director of Social Defence and accordingly direct that the 'Department of Social Defence' shall henceforth be renamed as "Department of Children Welfare and Special Services" in English and "குழந்தைகள் நலன் மற்றும் சிறப்புச் சே்ைகள் து்ற" in Tamil. 5. The Director of Children Welfare and Special Services is required to send necessary draft amendments to the relevant rules in due course.
