IMPLEMENTATION OF FAME-II AND PM E-DRIVE SCHEMES

Will the Minister of Heavy Industries be pleased to state:
(a) the present status of implementation of the Faster Adoption and Manufacturing of Electric
Vehicles (FAME) Scheme and the PM Electric Drive Revolution in Innovative Vehicle
Enhancement (PM E-DRIVE) scheme;
(b) the details of the electric vehicles supported, established charging infrastructure and deployed
batteries under these schemes, State-wise;
(c) the steps taken under FAME-II and PM E-DRIVE to promote the indigenous manufacturing
of electric vehicles, batteries and their components;
(d) the details of funds allocated, released and utilized under the FAME-II and PM E-DRIVE
schemes; and
(e) the targets for electric mobility in the country for next financial year and Government's long
term strategy?

(a), (b) & (d): The details of the funds allocated, released, and utilised under FAME-II, and PM E-
Drive schemes, as on 22.07.2026, are as under:

(i) FAME II scheme: As on 30.06.2026, FAME-II supported sale of 16,71,606 EVs and 5,297 e-
buses have been deployed in FAME-II.
As on 01.07.2026, 9,583 EV PCS have been installed under FAME-II, on pan India basis.
Detailed status of FAME-II is given at Annexure I.
(ii) PM E-DRIVE Scheme : As on 22.07.2026, the scheme supported sale of 26,54,172 EVs.
Further, 14,000 e-buses and 7,250 EV chargers have been allocated. The current status of the Scheme is
given in Annexure II.
As on date no chargers have been installed under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme.
Further, under FAME-II & PM E-DRIVE, only electric vehicles fitted with advanced batteries
are incentivised.-2-
(c): Under FAME-II and PM E-DRIVE, the phased manufacturing programme (PMP) has been
mandated to promote indigenous manufacturing of EVs and EV components including battery pack, by
manufacturers.
(e): No annual target has been prescribed for the next financial year under the PM E-DRIVE Scheme.
The Scheme envisages support for a specified number of electric vehicles over its entire implementation
period. The segment-wise targets for all categories of electric vehicles covered under the PM E-DRIVE
Scheme are provided in Table-1 of Annexure-II.
Further, an amount ₹2,000 crore has been allocated under PM E-DRIVE for setting up of
adequate nos. of EV PCS on pan India basis.

5. EV public chargers: Proposals for 6,559 EV chargers across 10 states have been approved as per
details below:

Additionally, 691 EV chargers of 3 oil marketing companies (OMCs) have also been approved
under the scheme.
6. Testing Agencies: An allocation of ₹780 crore is provided for the modernization of four testing
agencies—ARAI, ICAT, NATRAX, and GARC—to enhance Vehicle certification capabilities.
