* **Core Objective(s):** To enable the building, widening (specifically four-laning), maintenance, management, and operation of a 9.2 km stretch of National Highway No. 42 within Ananthapuramu Town Limits. This objective is explicitly stated in the notification.
**4. Background and Rationale:**

This authorization is crucial for enabling the highway expansion project to proceed. The notification also specifies the stretch of land to be acquired (Km. 0.000 to Km. 9.200), the state (Andhra Pradesh), district (Ananthapuramu), and identifies the specific villages within the Rapthadu and Ananthapuramu Taluks that will be affected.

* **Transport Companies:** Companies whose travel times and routes may be affected.
**7. Implementation Aspects (Inferred):**
* **Responsible agency/bodies mentioned:** The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways is the responsible agency. The notification also mentions "competent authorities" (identified in column 2 of the schedule), who are responsible for land acquisition. The Joint Collector, Ananthapuramu, is listed as the competent authority.
* **Timelines or procedures specified *in the text*:** The policy takes effect from the date of publication in the Official Gazette (September 27, 2021). However, the text does not explicitly outline specific timelines or procedures for the land acquisition process beyond referencing the National Highways Act, 1956.
**8. Expected Outcomes / Impact of Changes:**
* **New Policy:** The intended outcomes of this policy, based on the text, are:
* Facilitation of land acquisition for the National Highway No. 42 expansion project.
* Improved road infrastructure through the building and four-laning of the specified stretch.
* Enhanced connectivity and smoother traffic flow in Ananthapuramu.
* Potential for economic development due to improved transportation infrastructure.
* Increased convenience for transport companies and improved supply chains.
**9. Conclusion:**
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways notification authorizes land acquisition for the expansion of National Highway No. 42 in Ananthapuramu. The notification empowers specific authorities to carry out land acquisition, paving the way for the building, widening, maintenance, management, and operation of the highway.
